Nottingham Trolleybuses

Nottingham
By David Bowler

Sorry, sold out.......

Nottingham may be considered to be one of the pioneer UK trolleybus operators having commenced operations as early as 1927. It was inevitable therefore that there would be much more data and general information to be extracted from the various archives than for many other UK systems. Hence the comprehensiveness and detail in this landmark book.

The system was also fortunate in being not only photographed to a high quality by the Corporation, but also being recorded by GHF Atkins, a local resident and a famous photographer from the 1930s onwards. His pictures are rare for being taken earlier than those of most bus enthusiasts and for their excellent quality. Many photographs from both sources are included, often larger than is usual, as are those from manufacturers and later, from the best of the many admirers of this pioneering network.

2006 marked the fortieth anniversary of the demise of Nottingham's trolleybuses in June 1966. This publication is a fitting tribute to an excellent trolleybus system that served the city well for almost forty years. Nottingham's trolleybuses deserve to be remembered for the significant part that they played in the life of Nottingham in general and its transport system in particular.
